Hi, I have a SharePoint 2010 list with 5 fields in it named Title,Project Name,Environment(choice),Issue(Multi Line) and Steps to Reproduce(Multi Line). I have a designer workflow attached to it which is sending email when ever a list item is modified,created etc.
When a user creates a new list item, an email is sent to them with all the fields provided.After some time the same user is editing the list item and he is not changing any field values and he is saving the same list item(which the user is not supposed to do).Again the same email with same subject is triggered to the user who created/modified the list item. So no of emails are triggered for the same list item without even a single modification is done from the user perspective.I tried to educate the user which is not so easy since the number of users are more for this list. So i need to send an email when any above one of the fields are changed from previous version, so that i can control the number of emails that are triggered to the same user. Instead of educating the user i thought of using the version comments in the SharePoint 2010 list item(Which is enabled in the list)I see lot of blogs for getting the list item comments using Server object Model in 2010.

My understanding is that i need to write a custom workflow where i need to query the version comments and compare it. Is there any other way that i can achieve this use case in SharePoint 2010 designer workflow. Please advice.
