Catan FAQ: Question: Why do I have to download additional files after purchasing? Answer: The download from Google play includes the basic game data and a tool that will determine your device’s display resolution and then download the optimal graphics data for your device. Question: Which Android security permissions does Catan need and why? Answer: “Storage” to write data to the SD or move the game data, “Network communication” to download game data and access the In App Store and “system tools” to check if Catan is already running to resume a game.
Question: I bought one of the expansions but after an update, reinstallation of Catan or after restoring my phone the expansion seems gone? Answer: Don’t worry; your initial purchase is already saved in your Google account. However for technical reasons you might have to select “Buy” again. Confirm and a message will tell you that you’ve already purchased it. You will NOT be billed twice!
Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating from or when restoring my phone. Is there any way to restore it? Answer: Savegames from old versions can usually be restored automatically. For all other cases we’ve integrated a cheat code: Enter campaign mode and go to select player. Enter „CatanWarp.“ (.
= 1–15, e.g 'CatanWarp5') as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button. Enter your phone’s settings menu. Select applications/manage applications/Catan/ and then “Force Stop”. Restart Catan. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number by selecting “New scenario.”. Suggestions for improvements and feature requests?

For news and updates follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Honestly, I'm on the verge of uninstalling. I want to like It, I really do. But like all 'strategy' games, this game falls well short in AI. Setting the difficulty above easy doesn't make the AI better players, it just makes the dice rolls absurd and the AI players target the human players from the start.
As a one player game, it isn't even fun. In fact, it's laughable. The dice rolls are so predictable it will make you laugh out loud when every time the robber is placed on your tile- and I do mean every time- and the next dice roll is that same number. And it doesn't really matter how you play, the dice eill be skewed against you.
I've played literally hundreds of single player games. And the number of times I DIDN'T finish last in total resources collected can be counted on one hand. No exaggeration. That's just lazy programming. And that defines Catan for Android. Overall a great fun game! However it is a bit annoying not being able to see the total VP you need to obtain for each game to win.
(Pls make this visible) also the computers are pretty vicious and unrelenting against you. So as you play campaign it become more more evident that AI is against you. The dice throws are definitely in favor of the bots. The game threw nearly 10 8's and zero 6's (I was on 6) then I managed to get on an 8 and it only threw 2 8's the rest of the game. Then it would consistently roll 11,9,5, or 7.
All were the bots numbers and only the 11 mine. I was in 3rd place and I was still being attacked by the robber. When I'm in first it's unrelenting which I can understand, but 3rd place??? I read a few comments and i played lots of time single play mode and it not realistic at all. Every time i lead the game all the IA hit on me. But the thing is.
If i have quite a few good points but at least one IA better than me i still get hit on robbed and so on. 7 hits way too many times when i have plenty resources.
If i need one resource from one of the players and i know he has 3 of the and only one other that i don.t need. When i rob him i end up with the one i don.t need most of the time. But when i.m robbed and i have resources that i need.
I.m robbed of them. Despite that i only have one of that an 3 of others. It.s single mode. Should be more balanced. A good board game to play but not on phone tablet.
I love this board game, but this app ruined it for me. Rather than program an effective, strategy based AI, the devs clearly designed the game to cheat. The dice rolls are not random, and favor the AI. If you are playing against multiple AI opponents, they work together to beat you the way human opponents wouldn't. There is an in-app chart that shows what numbers are thrown, but it neglects to point out all the times the dice roll your numbers right after the AI places the baron on it, as if the app is specifically designed to gaslight you. Even in the games you win, every opponent earns more resources than you in every game; the only reason the AI doesn't win every single game is because it spams development cards, and it rolls so many 7s that it loses a lot of resourses. The AI isn't written to play like a human being.
It's written to be a pain in the ass. If I played the physical boardgame against human opponents who played like this, every game would end in a fist fight. I am sorry I paid for this app. Spend your money elsewhere. The main drawback of this game is still multiplayer play.
It would be nice if it were easier to choose the multiplayer game they are going to join. If you choose the quick option, it takes a while to find the game and then when it loads you either accept or reject, and if you reject you were taking all the way back to the main menu. It would be much better if upon rejecting you were immediately shown another choice.
Also it should be possible to boot people on the screen where you confirm that you are ready to play. If two people drop out in the middle of a game, one of them times out and then you get taken back to that screen which announces they have timed out. But if the other person never presses that they are ready to play, the game can never continue. So if two people leave at once, the game is impossible to complete.
That has happened to me twice this week. If you guys are ever updating the intelligence of the AI, I would make them respond with greater variation to deals that offer two resources or three resources for one. Generally, it seems like they accept or reject the deal regardless of how many cards you are offering them for the card you want. Real players may change their mind when the number of cards is increased. In Cities and Knights, AI does sometimes change its mind if it is offered a commodity instead of a resource, but being persuaded by multiple resources is a different thing. Great game, but STILL VERY buggy in spite of updates!! This game has been around for years with few updates in gameplay and even fewer bugfixes.
A great game that you happily pay for - the more annoying that after years PC opponents and game freezes, dices throw the same numbers up to 5 times in a row, resource fields miss to give out resources, cities have to be dismantled in spite of enough active knights, online game regularly kicks people. How hard can it be, this is not a graphically intensive or super complicated game, AI is not that clever, gameplay has hardly changed in years and yet.buggy buggy buggy (LG G2, iPad mini, Samsung A3, Moto G4plus).

Buy/sell/trade real world resources at your own risk. Is not responsible if you did not get that PlayCatan account you thought you were buying. Resources.PlayCatan goes online again on Feb.18 for the duration of the Early Access Phase of Catan Universe Feb 11, 2016.Play Catan shut down effective 1/29/16:(. For instance, right off the start if you can't afford a knight and activation you'll quickly lose your city to the barbarians. And I find that can happen easily if the right numbers aren't rolled. Or the barbarians can come again very quickly before you can upgrade/reactivate knights if the numbers aren't right. Then the cards start coming in.
So the road/knight you built is suddenly gone. Monopolies everywhere. That resource you depended on suddenly has its number switched. You can't hold on to any cards because of stealing/monos/7s especially since the commodities push up the number of cards. (Yes I know walls can help prevent that, but it doesn't seem to be that feasible/practical in game). I think C&K introduces a lot of randomness that leads to a less enjoyable game. You can't form and stick to a strategy because of the random events.
You're not playing the game so much as the game is playing you. Why does everyone like this expansion so much? What am I not getting? It's not random chance when another player chooses to mess with you. It may seem random because it is unexpected, but it is less randomness and more player involvement.
It does add another die and the drawing of progress cards (more then Dev cards) does add some random elements, but there is more other players can do towards stopping a runaway, which makes for a closer game. This is what people like. The game is always close because their are more ways to stop runaways.
Regular Catan allows for someone to get lucky early rolls, expand fast, and runaway to the win. You can play the Robber on them but that isn't always enough. C&K adds those missing pieces.
It may seem like the game is against you if you were winning, but overall you are always in the game if you are competent. Roll with the punches and persevere. I see your point with screwing with other players. But I find this is exactly part of the problem, it takes real strategy out and replaces it with progress card randomness. Some progress cards are cool, but I find there are too many that put too much randomness in (eg the number swap). Not to mention the runway guy keeps getting progress cards while the laggards get fewer. I also find that if you get knocked around at the start you don't have the income or progress cards to stage a comeback.
Meanwhile the runaway can keep getting more and defender of Catan to boot. Yeah thinking about it I'm not so certain it's that great at slowing runaways. If you are relying on fast expand strategies common in the base game, it's likely not to work in C&K. C&K heavily rewards building up cities and city improvements, and you basically have to have good production on grain and ore in order to succeed (compare: grain and ore are largely neglected in base game scenarios, since ore is only useful in city expand strategies). Since knights are sort of 'on the way', you can get some good protection as you expand, while city walls are more of a defensive measure to counteract the faster production that you get from having more cities. A good beginner's strategy is either fast aqueduct to cover any potential production deficiencies that you may have, or fast mighty knight to buy yourself some barbarian protection (and maybe score some free defender points on the side). Both of these can then be converted to a metropolis strategy.
Mid-to-late game strategies is probably why you are so frustrated, as a commodity-heavy strategy can ruin your day, and late game strategies generally revolve around trying to deliberately lose to the barbarians to screw over the player in the lead, or defending against the same. If you continue to feel like the early game needs a boost (or the first barbarian attack comes too fast), you can try adding Fishermen or the gold piece rule from T&B/E&P, which should help everyone get production out faster. I agree with the City strategy, with whichever commodity you can get given the board and your turn. My beef is with the progress cards.
It doesn't take long to acquire quite a few and start adding randomness to the game. After that I think strategy pretty much goes out the window and you're pretty much playing a progress card game. And hanging on to several commodity cards trying to upgrade, which makes you go over the 7 limit so the robber becomes more random as well (if your lucky you can upgrade, if you're not you can't upgrade). So at that point I think the game turns over to silliness.

Cities And Knights Of Catan
Is it just that people like that and I don't?. A fast metropolis strategy, by definition, will net you healthy progress card income, since owning a metropolis gives you at least 2/3 chance of getting progress cards whenever the event die shows the matching progress card type (so 1/9 chance on any given turn).
