Ok so Im in the boat of having upgraded to 10.6 only to discover the driver from the Toshiba e-studio 281c printer work uses wont install so no printing. Toshiba of course should provide an update but who knows when that will be. The driver itself gets to the last part of installation and fails. I have tried - changing permissions on the /library/printers/toshiba and /PPD folders (as they seemed wrong compared to other printer folders and an apple discussion mentioned this might work) - using pacifist to manually install the files - copying the old PPD etc files from my time machine backup. None of this works Anyway any suggestions appreciated. I presume apple changed the file printer driver architecture of some such in 10.6 and yes I should have done a bit more research and yes I could or should downgrade to 10.5.8 and will if I cant solve this.

Then use the Terminal (/Applications/Utilities) and copy and paste the following command: sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/toshiba/ Hit the Return or Enter key.
